Cindy May Johnson literally grew up in radio. Her first job was emptying ashtrays and garbage cans at the ripe old age of 12, and from there she has held every position in radio except chief engineer and sports director. The President and CEO of family-owned East Kentucky Broadcasting returned to her live radio roots when WDHR’s Day Break morning show debuted in August, 2010, and she’s loving every minute of it.
One of the founding members of the Appalachian SPCA, Cindy has a passion for animal advocacy and rescue. She and her husband (known on Day Break as “the Big Unit” – a title he stole from the “other” Randy Johnson) enjoy travel and spending time with family. Their home is filled with rescued animals and visiting children and grandchildren most of the time.
